This week I learn about franchise and what the good and bad are about that route of starting a business. I think that after learning more about it that people without a business degree that wants to feel like they are working for themselves it’s a good way to start. I mean that the start up and the name come with a price. After you pay that and any royalties that are set you are your own boss. This is the route that I would take instead of opening up my own place. I would go this route for I do not know much business to start a place from scratch, but I do know how to keep a place running.
This week for the challenge of starting my own small business and running it has gone nowhere. I think that I started too late in the season that it would have been great. I gave a way three tutus hoping that will spark sales, it has not. Now that I gave away I am 50 dollars in the hole and no profit. I have learn that time is everything that you do in opening a small business. Time will hurt you or make you profit.

The Jet blue was a great story to read for me. I too have a hard time sitting still and reading. I felt that I could really see David’s point where he was coming from. It was crazy to see that he helped the air lines reach a good point then the Martins sold it the new airlines did not like how David run it or his new ideas. He was let go after this contracted ended. He then made his own air line called jet blue. He cut everything that was not needful or the people did not buy very often. This he did to reduce the cost of things. Now that he has a great flights and customer coming back to fly with them, there are making a profit. This is great to see that even a small man can go up against well established companies and compete with them and make a profit. The most important thing that will help you do this is cut un-needful things and customers come backs.
I am finding out that it would have been best to sell the tutus before Halloween. There have been many people that tell me I was late. That if I came back before Halloween they would have bought the tutus for the girls’ customs. I hope that I can find someone having a party I can sell to.

The article about the Zippos Company offering people to quite after the training presses was surprise to me. I would never have thought to let someone go after I spent all that time trying to find them. They say that this why they can find the people that want to work for the company and not just make a buck. I think that this would only work for them in Las Vegas as a call center. After talking to a couple of people around here their sights are we spend a lot of time hiring people we want to encourage them to do better not worse.  Here is a link to the report so if you would like to read for yourself.  http://ecorner.stanford.edu/authorMaterialInfo.html?mid=2542
This week I spent time talking to people and my wife to find out what kind of colors are the most liked that I can make the tutus out of. It turns out to be lots of pink, white, orange, blue, and black. Now I can start making them to sell to people for 10 dollars apiece. I hope that I am not too late on selling these for it is after Halloween. This would have been perfect for Halloween customs like the white and black color mix, or orange and black.

Entrepreneur Journal- For a class that I am taking

This week was a great week in class. I was able to interview with Chris and find out what he had to do to start an auto repair shop. The information that I was able to get from him help me so much on understanding what I can do now to get ready. I need to set up a back account that I can put money away now for the start up cost when I am ready for everything to start. I also need to work on my business plan and keep working on it until it is perfected. I am glad to be able to get to know Chris and be able to use him as a role model while I continue to setting up and start my own shop some day.
I thought that making tutus for girls would be something that would take fire and I would be able to sale a lot of them. I guess I missed the good time to sell them for Halloween. Now that I missed that it is getting harder to sell. I am going door to door and that is not turning out. I need to come up with a different approach and try to find another reason why people would want to buy the tutus so I can sell more. I wonder if I give away a few if that would bring sales.
